John Vansant

MD, FACC

Dr. Vansant was awarded his Doctor of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia and performed his post-doctoral residencies and fellowship at Vanderbilt University leading to Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, and Nuclear Medicine.  He is regionally and nationally recognized for his Academic and Clinical practice accomplishments.  He has held Academic appointments at The Medical College of Georgia, Vanderbilt University, Emory University, and Oregon Health Sciences University.  During his tenure at Emory University, he served as Associate Professor of Radiology, Director of Nuclear Medicine at Emory University Hospital, and Chief of Nuclear Cardiology. His Leadership roles have included serving as President of the Georgia Rheumatology Association, President of the Southeastern Chapter of The Society of Nuclear Medicine, President of The Pacific Northwest Chapter of Nuclear Cardiology and recently served as Chief of Radiology at The Hampton VA Medical Center in Virginia.  He holds extensive experience and expertise in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging in both Cardiology and Oncology.  His accomplishments in the field of Cardiology were recognized by his being elected to Fellowship of American College of Cardiology  Dr. Vansant is a native Georgian.
